Remember the baby spiders?

This is so creepy. This is the shelf that was over the bathroom window. I took it down last night and brought it out to the family room to put up in the crawl space. Left it there all night. This morning my eye saw something moving. I get the chills. This picture doesn't do justice to the size of this spider.

But think about this: it has been a little momma spider that has hatched a batch of eggs every year in that bathroom. I think we might have put an end to it.

After thirty years (28 really) we are fixing the bathroom. Dad decided to take it apart last night. He felt bad. It was in terrible shape. The toilet really was getting ready to fall through the floor. The tub had rot under and around it. Even the sink had rotten wood under it.

THERE WILL BE NO LIVING WITH HER NOW.

And the 2008 Prom Queen for Blue Ridge High School is......October Lee Merrill. She texted me about 12:15 saying that they were staying for the movie. (the prom was held at the movie theatre and they offered a movie after the dance was over.) So I texted back and asked who won Queen.

She meekly texted back...."me". I said, are you kidding?" She texted back, "no." Two words was all until she came home.

She was very surprized. The nominees were the usual girls. Lee only goes to school for two classes each day and it wasn't until Thursday that she even knew she was nominated. I think her classmates chose wisely!

They ate at Charlie Clark's and Lee ordered a Top Sirloin Steak. She said all the other girls ordered chicken strips. But she was happy to have a steak and ate the whole thing!

IT'S A BIG WEEKEND

We went to our last Winslow Invitational yesterday. Blue Ridge girls and boys teams won. It was a good meet. I think track is becoming the happening sport at Blue Ridge. We generate points in the field and on the track. We have some girls who run distance that have really helped generate points. Lee won the 100m and the 200m and she anchored the 4x100 and they took first there. We sat by a school from the valley called Skyline. They are a 5a school but we didn't see much stand out performance from any of them. When they were leaving their coach said, "next year we going to the Blue Ridge Invitational because they are strong and tough".

Snowflake Invitational

Well, I started the day thinking that I would chronicle the Snowflake Invitational Track Meet. But I get too caught up in the races and don't like watching them through lens that make people 1/4 inch tall. Needless to say, I only took pictures of non moving objects. This was the best one. This picture doesn't even begin to show how white this fellow's head is. If you look closely you can see the tan area where you can adjust the width of a hat. I was worried about him. He was asking for a bad sunburn.

Lee won the 100 and the 4 x 100. She came from about 10 yards behind and finished 5 yards ahead in the 4 x 100. She didn't run the 200 today because her foot has been hurting her. We talked with Pete today about it. It is probably an inflamed nerve and wearing flip flops is definately a no no. Next week....the Winslow Invitational.

Dad and I have started reading this new book by James L. Ferrell. Even if you only read the first chapter you will have a whole new way of thinking about the word "Holy" and what it applies to. If you liked the Peacegiver you will like this. It is on our recommended reading list.

A new day in the Life of Lee.

Lee had a good Monday morning. She and I traveled to Glendale for her to register for her first semester of college. She made all the connections on her own. She looked like all of the other students. It's breaking my heart........She tested into English 101 and is right where she is supposed to be in her College Algebra. She was pleased with her morning and liked that it "didn't feel like high school".

We will miss you.

Tomorrow Jeremiah starts the Police Academy. Of course, that has brought change to their lives. But isn't it great to be young and have options and bright futures to contemplete. (I am really just trying to console myself.) We will miss them so much. I know they are only 3 1/2 hours away but that seems so far compared to 3 1/2 minutes. Grandpa will have to find somebody else to "ruff up" every day (Bode). We are pleased with Jeremiah and his desire to take care of his family but we will miss him here at work with us. My daughters are my best friends so I will miss Heidi alot. I know where ever they live they will bring added strength to their church and community. They are not only going to be missed by us but by their ward, friends, school and community.

But we wish them prosperity, peace and protection. And much happiness. Don't let Bode forget us.

The Best Conference

Yesterday, we were at Heidi and Jeremiah's, helping them pack their stuff, when they began the sustaining in the Solemn Assembly. That was really a powerful experience. I didn't remember doing it that way before. But it strengthened my testimony to realize that we were sustaining the decisions that were made by the Quorum of the Twelve. It was so much more than an
"announcement". We were approving and pledging our hearts to this inspired decision. I have been praying that I would feel and gain testimony of Pres. Monson as our Prophet and President. That simple little time there in the Joncas home with all of us taking our turn to offer our support and our hearts made me see that he is all of that. It wasn't a big earth shattering thing just a simple sweet experience. I was glad to have had family as part of that sweet time.

Officer T. Merrill

We had a pleasant surprize today. Tim stopped in. He and his fellow officer, Eric, were up here on duty for the Apache Tribal Elections. They only stayed a short time but it was nice to see Tim in his uniform and doing his work. Except for the Andy Griffith boot/pants look we thought he looked really handsome in uniform.
