Disclaimer

I read blogs and appreciate how people can write
and invite everyone in-as though we all know each other.  I don't feel my
posts write up that way.  In my speech or my writing I start in mid-stream and
assume everyone knows exactly where I ended last or what I am thinking.  I do realize that my
followers are few and that blogging has given way to Instagram.  At least
this is how it has gone with my family.  So for me to "update" my blog
almost classifies me as out of touch.

The thing I appreciate most about blogging is how I get to see
inside the hearts and minds of people I love.  I miss this with
Instagram.  Instagram is most always short and to the point with
a photo doing all the talking ~ which a photo can certainly do.
But I miss the deeper words that are left unsaid.

The other side of coin is I don't blog as much as I once did.
So to say that I may be out of touch may really be that I
don't keep in touch.  So tonight I made a few new posts.
It felt good.

Pondering

". . . when we ponder, we invite revelation by the Spirit. Pondering, to me, is the thinking and the praying I do after reading and studying in the scriptures carefully."
Henry B. Eyring, Oct 2010 General Conference

This message from President Eyring hit a cord with me.
If I could learn to ponder then I could learn to feel
the Spirit more fully.  I am not one of the world's
great thinkers or ponder-ers.  But I can write my thoughts
down and thoughts are pondering.  At least in my
book they are a way of capturing thoughts and organizing
them into rational concepts.

I read first thing on the morning.  I am just about through with the Book of Mormon. I keep reading Moroni chapter 7.  The words hope and faith and real intent keep me reading this chapter over and over again.  I do use other sources to aid my study. The Bible dictionary is a great resource.  There are conference talks on most every gospel principle. I reach out to these a lot.  These authorities say things in ways that explain it clearly.  Then I try and write my own thoughts and feelings.....say it in my own way. This is when I feel that my pondering takes place. I really enjoy these times of expression.

I suppose one day my children may be shocked at what went through my mind some mornings. But I don't think I get off kilter.  I pray for the Holy Ghost to be with me. I seriously consider the words if scripture and the words of our authorities. So how can I go wrong..

It is the Spirit I wish to know and feel better. And I believe that the   Holy Ghost is in the pondering.  Pres.Eyring said do.

The Old Grey Mare

Here are a couple of random shots of David.

This is him hanging out with Aaron and Jeremiah,
two of is three son in laws.  Yes, those are their
smart phones controlling the moment.

Grandpa supporting his granddaughter, Megan, at
her volleyball tournament.

Selfie with Megan and Piper and me.

We had to replace our water main this past
winter and tore up a section of concrete sidewalk.
David finally got the cement mixer from my
brother, Jeff, and poured a new sidewalk.
He is good at stuff.  We have always done
our own repairs, upgrades and maintenance.
I enjoyed being with him and helping but
we are not who we used to be.  It took David
a long time to talk himself into doing this project
and it was harder work than it once was.

There is something very stable in doing what
you have always done.  We own the book on that.
But recently we have had to have a heart to heart
and accept that it is time to pay somebody to do
some of what we once did.

It is interesting to look back and see that
we did everything (mostly out of
necessity).  But also because that is just how
we saw it done and how we did it.  And then
one day you can't.  We're not helpless but
it takes more effort to talk ourselves into
an actual project.  But we do and as much
as we can we will.

Glamping

We have owned this camp trailer for almost 6 years and
treated it like a glorified tent with wheels.  We bought it for
camping up in the mountains here.  It is older and heavy.
Not meant for trips into the San Juans of Colorado.
Most of the time it just sits in our backyard taking up
space so we have gone back and forth as what to do with
it.  Sell it or keep it.

A little while back our oldest son, Pete, asked if
he could borrow it for a trip to Rocky Point with a
group of people he works with.  I am always motivated
to clean things when I am lending them or when some
one is coming to visit.  So we have been working on
it.  It is no longer a storage unit with rotten dirty
carpet.  The heating and AC are up and running (thanks
to a little help from above mentioned son) the floors
are recovered and the cushions have new upholstery
on them.  And everything shines....even the freshly
washed windows.

Did I mention the roof.  David had to do plastic surgery
on the entire top.  Without going into detail and believe
me there is a lot of detail it is air tight and water proof now.  This alone has
helped us settle the sell or keep argument.  We'll keep it!!

These pictures aren't that impressive and it has to be
kept in mind that I can't glamp it up like those gals on
Pinterest.  I live with a man who is wouldn't be happy
with gingham and lace.  Having said that I hope you are
impressed with our work.  And happy camping.

I didn't get a before shot of that filthy carpet.
It had to be harboring a multiplicity of bad germs.
Its gone.!!!
