IT'S ALL ABOUT FAMILY

Today Bishop Shumway read a First Presidency message from 1999. I thought about all of my children and how much I love them and how much I love their children. So I wanted to send this counsel from the Prophets.

We call upon parents to devote

their best efforts to the teaching

and rearing of their children in

gospel principles which will keep them

close to the church. The home is the basis

of a righteous life, and no

other instrumentality can take its place

or fulfill its essential functions in carrying

forward this God-given responsibility.

We counsel parents and children

to give highest priority to family prayer,

family home evening, gospel study and instruction,

and wholesome family activities.

However worthy and appropriate other

demands or activities may be, they

must not be permitted to displace

the divinely appointed duties that

only parents and families

can adequately perform.

Not much happening here.

Dad and I went and saw Get Smart. Do you know how

much effort that took? Lee practically had to push us

out the door. So, we hope the update on the blog doesn't

put you to sleep.

The Dash

I read of a man who stood to speak
At the funeral of a friend
He referred to the dates on her tombstone
From the beginning to the end
He noted that first came the date of her birth
And spoke the following date with tears,
But he said what mattered most of all
Was the dash between those years
For that dash represents all the time
That she spent alive on earth.
And now only those who loved her
Know what that little line is worth.
For it matters not how much we own;
The cars, the house, the cash,
What matters is how we live and love
And how we spend our dash.
So think about this long and hard.
Are there things you’d like to change?
For you never know how much time is left,
That can still be rearranged.
If we could just slow down enough
To consider what’s true and real
And always try to understand
The way other people feel.
And be less quick to anger,
And show appreciation more
And love the people in our lives
Like we’ve never loved before.
If we treat each other with respect,
And more often wear a smile
Remembering that this special dash
Might only last a little while.
So, when your eulogy is being read
With your life’s actions to rehash
Would you be proud of the things they say
About how you spent your dash?

Snowflake Temple

Dad and I went to the Temple last Thursday night. It was so good. Kim and Mike Seaman were there. All these years and I don't think I have ever sat by Kim at the Temple. It really is a blessing that we have a Temple so close. We highly recommend going as often as you can.

Summer Colors

Aren't flowers amazing. The top one greets us every time we walk in or out of the front door. It is time for the day lilies to bloom. I wish they stayed longer. The last batch are in the back yard and they are from seeds from Colorado. The orange one is a Gilardia (sp). Even the daisies are from those seeds. I am amazed they grow. Dad was hoping that his beautiful green grass would get in the picture. He has really worked hard to get it looking so good.

We struck water.

This is the new faucet in the garden. I love it. No more dragging the hose across the drive way. Those are green beans. I am hoping for alot of them.

For Sale.

Anyone need a shell for a blue short bed four door Tacoma. They don't give you anything in trade so we are selling it outright. Only problem is the size of the market. Pretty small. We are thinking about following dark blue Tacomas around until they stop and asking them to buy our shell.

No more hot nights.

We are loving our fans. Not only do they look nice but they keep our house so cool.....day and night.

Look at this good cat. He was the best. His tree is really growing big.

Around the House

We love reading about our children and their children. We wish we were as entertaining. But we're not.

Ok, by now you all know we traded the Tacoma for this Vibe. We have been considering this for a while. We didn't want to just have a knee jerk reaction to these big gas prices. But in the end we think they are probably here to stay.

So....why the Tacoma? Dad loves his Cherokee, the Jeep is off limits, nobody wants our motorhome so that means that all fingers pointed to the Tacoma. Financially it was a good move. Not only for gas money savings but also the payment and the maintenance will be less.
Right now that is a good thing. Well, it is always a good thing.
