Abbey and Lottie

Tim and Connie's two sons, Mike and Ben, are
both born in February.  This past October their
baby, Lottie, was born in October....just like her
big sister.  This past October was also Abbey's
8th birthday so Connie planned a big
one day baptism and baby blessing gathering.

I love Abbey.

And I love Lottie.

Tim and Connie are distant cousins.
Here is how it goes:

CONNIE
Grandfather ~ Henry Ray Webb
Great grandfather ~ Jonathan Henry Webb
Great great grandfather ~ Edward Milo Webb, Jr.  (Wife ~ Sarah Elizabeth Carling)

TIM
Grandfather ~ Gilbert Cole Brewer
Great grandmother ~ Lucretia Annetta Webb
Great great grandfather ~ Edward Milo Webb, Jr.  (Wife ~ Charlotte Martha Maxwell)

Edward Milo Webb, Jr. had three wives.  Connie's GGGmother was his second wife.
Tim's GGGmother was his 3rd wife.

Our picture above of everyone attending
the baptism/blessing are descendants.
A tiny tip of the ice berg created by these
early Mormon polygamists.

The Girl I Used To Be

The Girl I Used To Be

She came tonight as I sat alone...
The girl I used to be...
And she gazed at me with her earnest eye
And questioned reproachfully:
Have you forgotten the many plans
And hopes I had for you?
The great career, the splendid fame,
all the wonderful things to do?
Where is the mansion of stately height
With all its gardens rare?
The silken... robes that I dreamed for you
And the jewels in your hair?
And as she spoke, I was very sad
For I wanted her pleased with me...
This slender girl from the shadowy past
The girl that I used to be.
So gently rising, I took her hand
And guided her down the hall,
Where peacefully sleeping, my babies lay
Innocent, sweet, and fair.
And I told her that these are my only gems,
And precious they are to me;
That silken robes is my motherhood
Of costly simplicity.
And my mansion of stately height is love,
And the only career I know
Is serving each day in these sheltered walls
For the dear ones who come and go
And as I spoke to my shadowy guest,
She smiled through her tears at me.
And I saw the woman that I am now
Pleased the girl I used to be.

Sweet.

Easter Visitors

Lee and Aaron brought their little family
up to Pinetop for Easter Weekend.

I loved it....right up to the moment I
got the stomach flu.  But until then I
enjoyed every minute.

Come again.
I will schedule the flu for a better time.

Easter means more to me this year than
ever before.  I always do a poor job of
expressing my feelings about Christ. I am
sure that is because I compare me to Him
and am troubled by the distance between
his perfect being and my very mortal self.

What I have come to understand in my
heart is he loves me....even me.  The story
of his life, death and resurrection as
recorded in the Bible is true.  He is true.
He lived and died and was resurrected.
 I can't comprehend enduring
what he did and doing it
because of love.
I have decided that I won't comprehend
it I will only believe it.  He suffered for
me and all those I love.  I can become
clean because of his great atonement.  It
is a matter of faith in him.

Like father like son.

Well....not really.  This jeep is out in the
rocks in our front yard.  I realized the
other day that it looks just like Moab.

What do you think?

5 year mark.

David will have served as Bishop of our ward
for five years one month from now.  It has been
a good five years.  Of course, I can say that.
I know his work has been extremely hard at
times.  Most of all it is the time.  He
gives so much time.  It is just what he does.

This is a letter he received from Talon
Owen's mission president.  Talon served
in Portugal and returned home last week.
David read every word of this letter
this morning before church.

What I really need is a picture of him
with his cell phone.  It has become
the communication link between him
and ward members.  There are different
approaches he takes to each text.
Sometimes I can tell that it is serious
because he gets quiet.  Sometimes he is
quiet for long stretches.  I have to remember
it is because something is going on
and it is on his mind.  Every now and
then he forgets his phone so when
he checks it there are 3-5 texts waiting
for him.  Good news or bad.

But I thought this picture
sums up where he is.  He knows this
calling is going to come to an end.
And even if he can look forward to
that he will also miss these sweet letters
and other sweet things that are for
Bishops.

Bad couple of days for the Vibe.

David uses our Vibe now for his appraisal work.
It is such a good car.  It gets great gas mileage (36
miles per gallon) and has only had one
problem in the 6.5 years we have had it and
that was our fault.....when your gas hose shuts
off don't try and add a little bit more to the tank.
It does something to the fuel system and it
can cost $600 to fix it.

1)  David was driving up to an appointment and
he thought he would take the front house picture
while still in the car  He missed the middle
of the driveway and drove off into the culvert.
Oh my!

 2) Sometimes David will take a drive to
Taylor to talk to his parents at the cemetery.
That was his plan today except the Vibe decided
to stop.  He was driving away from the
house and it just sputtered and stopped.
We pulled it up to Tim Storms and left
it.  Hope it is an easy fix.
Will see tomorrow.

Bode's Baptism

Good days these are.
Bode FINALLY got baptized.  He
was the last of the grandchildren born
in these last two years to be baptized.
It hadn't gone unnoticed.

Just a few pictures.

 Uncle Jeremiah and baby Lottie.
Jeremiah had a good day.  He told me
he had always thought these were days
for someone else not him.  He always
wanted home and family and the blessings
of the Gospel and the Priesthood.  So
this was a good day for Jeremiah!

Daisy content to play by herself.

Mike, Tim, Ben, Connie, and Abbey.

Laine, Jeremiah, Lottie (Tim and Connie's),
Heidi, Bode, and Piper

Megan, Brittany, Dash, Pete, Jett (not being cool he
scratched his eye...glasses for protection), and Melanie.

We try and get a Grandpa and Grandma shot with
all the grandchildren but
this is the best we could round up.
Dash, Melanie, Laine, Jett, Daisy, and Megan.

Lee and Aaron.  Rocky asleep and
Daisy unavailable. :)

Someday Bode will be taller than
both Grandpa and me.

Dash is so tan....from rim to rim.
He loves the sandbox.

 My traveling partner with Daisy
sitting by him.

 Good day for Grandma Trish.

I love to take pictures of my men in suits.
I also like to take pictures of them in
suits from the back side.  I feel like they
are off somewhere to do something
important or talking about something
very important.  This is David and Jeremiah.

We are headed into a dry fire season so
I decided to give my children their scrap
books.  I have had them on
shelves, then in a cabinet by the TV and
finally in a closet.
Even in a closet they were a part of them
home with me.  It wasn't easy to make that decision.
But on the other hand they need to have them
to share with their children.  And that is
what they did!  This is Pete above with
his two daughters, Melanie and Megan.

And this is Tim with Abbey.  It was
very satisfying for me to see them doing
what I envisioned they would do.

This is the cutest little baby.
Baby Lottie.   She is
squishy and so busy.

This was a sweet day.  Good food
and conversation.  And lots of
cousins running in and out.
Loved it.

If mountains talked.

  Heidi had texted me
announcing that she was expecting and sick.  (Hard to
think of a creative way to announce a new one
on the way when you are green with morning sickness.)
So I went down to help out for a couple of days.
On my way home early Friday morning
I took this picture of Four Peaks.
Once again part of my travels only this time
knowing that my daughter is expecting another
baby it somehow seemed poignant.  Those
mountains are always there watching over my
world and today they said congratulations ~
happy for you.

 I am especially happy
that Heidi and all our children want family.
They make sacrifices of self to bring children into
the world and then provide for them.
Nobody is perfect here but in a world where
adults are crying for their rights and the rights
of children are becoming second or third
or irrelevant they have not lost sight of the
purpose of adulthood and family.

The announcement of a new baby on
the way just reaffirms that and
reminds me of the faith I have in my
children.

What's not to be happy about!

Getting ready for pictures to announce
upcoming addition.

Talking over the news!
